My HCDE 302 & 303 team designed a website which would transform the international student experience at UW., reducing confusion, building connection, and equipping students with tools to succeed at UW.

The design was built within UW's brand design, to be cohesive with UW web branding.

This website would transform the international student experience at UW., reducing confusion, building connection, and equipping students with tools to succeed at UW.

Currently, resources for international students at UW are spread across many departments and websites. International students are frustrated by difficult to navigate existing system.

The website we designed, "The Current", would provide centralized resources, peer support , and a glossary of helpful document terminology.

Design Question:

How might we design to support International Students at the University of Washington with concerns around their visa status, such as maintaining their student status and lack of easy access to information?

Components I Designed

Components I Designed

One of my key roles in the development of our mid-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes was designing and building almost all of the components, including buttons, web anatomy, and navigation tools.

All of these components were designed within the larger UW design system/brand guidelines, with the intention of balancing these guidelines with maintaining a friendly appeal to potential users.

Mid Fidelity Prototype

My team developed our mid-fidelity prototype based on feedback from the participants of our concept tests.

Changes Made from Mid-High Fidelity Prototypes:

My team developed our High-Fidelity Prototype through applying feedback we had received from usability tests on our Mid-Fidelity prototype, as well as feedback from an expert review session.

Feedback we applied included:

-Expanding the functionality of the prototype

-Making layout, alignment, and typography consistent

-Increasing contrast to improve accessibility

-Changing the structure of certain features for intuitive usage
